More Information About Virtual Visa

How does the recipient receive and use the Virtual Visa?

It’s a simple 3-step process:
  1. Recipient receives a Visa promo code and link to create a Visa cardholder account.
  2. Recipient redeems the promo code to create a Visa account and instantly receives a ready- to-use Visa Prepaid Card number.
  3. The Visa can be used online, over the phone or for mail-in orders.

In which countries is Virtual Visa NOT accepted?

Virtual Visa works in over 150 countries around the world.

However, there are a few countries where Virtual Visa is not accepted: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burma (Myanmar), Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Yemen, Zimbabwe.

In what currency is Virtual Visa issued?

We offer Virtual Visa in US Dollars (USD) and Canadian Dollars (CAD). We also offer Virtual MasterCard in Euros (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP). All virtual Visa and MasterCard work in an identical fashion. Purchases are made in the local currency and automatically converted to the currency of issue.
There are minor differences in country restrictions for CAD, EUR and GBP cards. Contact Us or log into your Rybbon account to see country restrictions for each type of prepaid card.

How does currency conversion work?

Visa automatically handles the currency conversion when purchases are made in a currency different from the currency in which the Visa was issued. For example, if a Visa issued in USD is sent to a recipient in Spain, that recipient can make purchases in Euros. The purchases are automatically converted to USD and charged to the Visa card.
A 2% transaction fee may be applied if the merchant settles the purchase transaction in a currency different from issuing currency. This fee is included in the final purchase charge applied to the Visa card.

Are there expiration dates?

Recipients have 4 months to register and redeem the Promo Code for a Visa prepaid card. After that, recipients have 7 months to spend the balance on the prepaid card.

Are there purchase restrictions?

Virtual Visa cannot be used for recurring fees (Example Subscription purchases).
Unless a merchant offers ‘split-tender’ the total order must be less than the card balance.
